Hand-Held or Backpack Leaf Blowers?

If you are running a professional lawn care business or a homeowner with many trees, you need a backpack leaf blower.

Now, you may be thinking that you can pull it off with an unnamed box store handheld blower. Well, let me put it like this. How would you like to use a ten-year-old 21-inch push mower to mow an acre of well-grown grass? They are typically very unreliable and weak compared to a professional handheld.

The main thing pro handheld blowers are suitable for in the professional setting is for those hard to get to nooks and crannies. They are also ideal for a light breeze of dry grass. Why are they better in those aspects than the powerful backpack leaf blowers? Simple. They are quicker and handier.

If you are on a budget for your lawn care business and can only afford one blower, you should get a backpack blower if at all possible. The mid to top-of-the-line models have enormous power compared to any hand blowers. It is better to go to a dealer and get a feel of the blowers and to compare similar models. If you compare a leaf blower to handhelds, you will notice that the more powerful backpack blowers can move significantly heavier objects, like small limbs! How do you think that will help in the Fall time? Very well!

You can still compare models at the dealer, but you can buy them used online or in person. If you buy used online, be sure the seller has good feedback. Don't be afraid to ask plenty of specific questions. If they don't answer them in a reasonable amount of time, many other sellers are out there!

Be sure to purchase one in relatively new condition and not work to death. It would be ideal to buy a demo model or one from someone going out of business. Used commercial lawn care equipment is better than new homeowner stuff 99% of the time. You just have to be a little more careful.

Schröder Leaf Blower has an extra boost of power for the fall time or those wet days. However, they are less handy in tight spaces and more expensive than a handheld leaf blower. Even though they have disadvantages, I still would rank them as more of a must-have in a professional lawn care business than a handheld leaf blower.

Essential Tips for Using Your Leaf Blower

Yard clearing and cleaning need not be tedious anymore. Leaf blowers, whether electric or petrol blowers, can drastically reduce the time and effort needed to clear your yard of detritus. They also benefit from preserving the fragile surface soil if appropriately used. Apart from removing and gathering leaves, people have also used blowers to clear grass clippings, re-fluff matted grass, dislodge blocked rain gutters, and dry off machinery.

However, all that power in such a compact device comes with a lot of caveats. It's essential to follow a few basic tips and guidelines to ensure proper and safe blower operation.

Read and understand

Do not use the leaf blower without reading and understanding the user manual provided by the manufacturer. Check if the manual contains everything you need to know about your blower: technical specifications, safety guidelines, and usage instructions. You should also read any accompanying pamphlets and safety warnings on the box.

Leaf blowers aren't toys.

Never allow children to use or even touch your leaf blower. That restriction extends to pet animals and other unfamiliar people with its operation. You are personally responsible for your blower, and you might be liable for any injury or damage caused by improper usage.

Do not point a running leaf blower in the direction of people or animals. Always make sure that onlookers, even other operators, be at least 50 feet away from you.

Quick inspection

Check to see if the leaf blower is in good condition before and during use. When released, the throttle trigger should spring back to idle mode, and the stop switch must turn off quickly. A quick inspection shouldn't take more than a few minutes and could save you a lot of time and money down the line.

Keep level

Always keep your feet on firm, level ground when using a leaf blower. Do not use a blower while standing on unsteady surfaces like ladders, rooftops, and stools. For hard-to-reach areas, consider investing in nozzle attachments.

Wear proper protective equipment

Wear clothing that's sturdy, snug, and allows free movement. Don't wear loose-fitting clothes and jewelry that might clog up the blower. Always have your essential personal protective gear ready: earplugs or muffs, goggles, mask or respirator (for dusty environments), heavy-duty work gloves, and nonslip steel-toed safety boots.

Be considerate

See if any local laws and ordinances are regulating the use of leaf blowers. Blowers are loud machines, so try not to operate very early in the morning or late in the day. Be considerate of people nearby, and do not blow debris towards open doors or windows.

The last word

Schröder Leaf Blower helps you finish faster and make your work a lot easier. Operating a blower may seem even fun at first, as you're blowing air into objects that fly away. Blowing air may seem fun at first until someone bursts an eardrum or gets something stuck in their eye. Rules are there for a reason, and safety should always be your number one priority.
